Additionally, Alvaro worked for a New Orleans, Louisiana based insurance company providing legal advice, especially in individual life and health insurance; group life and health insurance; international major medical insurance; small business, estate and executive benefit plans; voluntary and employer-paid employee benefit programs; specialty life, accident and health products; and mass marketing and micro insurance programs in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.
During his LL.M in insurance Law, Alvaro was the only international student selected by the University of Connecticut, School of Law to perform an externship with the Connecticut Insurance Department during spring semester 2013, where he acted as counsel in the legal department providing legal advice and related services to the Commissioner and the different divisions of the Insurance Department on a broad spectrum of issues that arise in regulating the insurance industry and in providing services to the consumer.
Alvaro received an LL.M in Insurance Law from the University of Connecticut, School of Law in 2013 and a Diploma in Insurance Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in 2016.
Alvaro is a certified legal auditor of insurance products by the Mexican Insurance Commission (Comision Nacional de Seguros y Fianzas) and Member of the Board (2018-2022) and active member of the AMEDESEF (Asociación Mexicana de Derecho de Seguros y Fianzas), Member of the Mexican Association of Insurance and Sureties Law, Mexican Chapter of the International Association of Insurance Law (“AIDA” Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances).
He co-autored the book “Derecho de seguros y reaseguro en América latina” (Editorial: Tirant lo Blanch 2019).
