Ramiro Besil

Since 2005 Ramiro has provided legal advice to companies in the oil and gas industry in issues involving contracts, financing, purchase and sale of vessels, pollution, regulations, liability, bankruptcy procedures and in administrative procedures before different Mexican authorities. He has also advised clients involved in the Mexican insurance market (insurers, reinsurers and brokers), in Marine, Energy, Aviation and non-marine areas, providing both advice and legal defense regarding liability, coverage and regulatory issues.

Before founding AGB, Ramiro worked for more than 15 years for a major Mexican law firm specialized in Insurance / Reinsurance law, Oil and Gas & Transportation law where he gained expertise in litigation and dispute before the Mexican Insurance Authorities, Federal Courts and State Courts regarding aviation and marine insurance, general liability and catastrophic risks issues, as well as providing legal advice and assistance to shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs and hull underwriters in casualties within Mexican waters, legal advice and assistance to shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs and cargo interests in respect of cargo issues and disputes.

Additionally, Ramiro provides Legal advice and assistance in transactional matters, including aircraft and ship finance, building contracts, securities, registration of titles, mortgages and other guarantees.

Ramiro obtained his law degree from Universidad Veracruzana in 2005. He attended the Maritime Law Short Course at the University of Southampton in 2008 and worked on a secondment in a major London City firm in 2013-2014.

Ramiro is also a member of the AMEDESEF (Asociación Mexicana de Derecho de Seguros y Fianzas), Mexican Association of Insurance and Sureties Law, Mexican Chapter of the International Association of Insurance Law (“AIDA” Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances).

Ramiro has successfully handled and been involved in milestone cases in Mexico regarding aviation and maritime accidents.

Legal advice and assistance in the establishment of new companies in Mexico, and its participation in Bids with State owned and private oil companies.
